LFX Monthly Roundup: August 2026

August was unlike anything we've shipped before. One hundred and forty-five changelog entries across eleven products — nearly three times our previous record — driven by a clear push: Health Score v2 landing across every data surface, community transparency opened to the public without login, and marketing tools finally complete end-to-end.

  • 145 changelog entries
  • 11 products updated
  • 43 Self Serve releases
  • 35 Community Data Platform releases

Community Data Platform & Insights: Health Score v2

The biggest story of August is Health Score v2 — not just shipped, but calibrated and broadly deployed. The new model scores projects across Maintainer Health, Security & Supply Chain, and Development Activity, adds a lifecycle classifier that distinguishes genuinely abandoned projects from quiet ones, and layers in ecosystem impact via blast-radius analysis.

Getting the methodology right took serious work. We switched multi-repo rollups from mean to median, fixed Gerrit-hosted projects that had been severely underscored due to a URL format mismatch, corrected misleading 0.0 scores for repos never scanned by OpenSSF Scorecard, and ensured the public API serves v2 data so external consumers see the same picture as everyone else.

Health Score v2 is now authoritative across LFX — from CDP's data pipelines and Snowflake exports, to Insights' collection tables, to the Health panel in Self Serve.

In Insights, collection project tables gained three new columns: Health Score (v2), Impact Score, and Lifecycle classification. We also extended vulnerability blast-radius analysis to six new package ecosystems — Go, Maven, Cargo, NuGet, PyPI, and RubyGems — giving security teams much broader coverage of the open source supply chain.

Self Serve: Social Listening, Public Profiles & Campaign Tools

Forty-three Self Serve releases this month, centered on three standout stories.

Social Listening went from concept to analytics-complete in a single month. Filters for sentiment, language, keyword, and author landed first, then an Analytics tab with sentiment trends, platform distribution, and one-click PNG export, then a full redesign replaced paginated cards with a smoother Load More experience. Executive Directors and LF Staff can now track how their projects appear across the web without leaving their dashboard.

Social Listening shipped from zero to analytics-complete in August: filterable feed, sentiment trends, platform distribution, and PNG export — all live in a single month.

Public openness advanced significantly. Contributors now have public profile pages with granular visibility controls. Working groups and committees have browsable public directories and detail pages. Projects have a public calendar anyone can access without logging in.

Campaign tools closed out remaining gaps. Microsoft Ads and X/Twitter Ads joined the channel lineup alongside Reddit, Meta, and Google Demand Gen. Newsletters gained scheduling, shareable permalinks, and a per-recipient engagement view showing delivery outcomes for every recipient.

Committee Service: Richer Weekly Briefs

The weekly brief got meaningfully richer this month. AI-generated meeting summaries now appear (with human approval as a gate), vote results surface per-choice tallies rather than just counts, and survey response rates are included. Mailing list activity — previously misconfigured and returning nothing — now flows in correctly. Briefs can be pushed directly to Slack, and a brief archive gives committee members a browsable history they can return to any time.

Project Control Center & Meeting Service

Meeting management received a thorough refresh: cleaner creation and editing screens, self-registration so attendees no longer need organizer involvement, and configurable pre-meeting email reminders. A new project-level setting controls whether removing a committee member cascades to their Zoom meeting registrations.

Voting in Project Control Center improved in parallel: comment questions on polls, status colors that no longer flag ended polls as urgent, and fixed permissions for external project chairs.

EasyCLA

Contributors can now sign CLAs directly within Self Serve, removing a context switch from the contribution onboarding flow. A new My CLAs tab consolidates all signed agreements in one place, backed by reliability fixes that ensure CLA data appears correctly across every view.

Mentorship

Admins and mentors gained shared reviewer notes on applications, improving coordination during mentee selection. UTC tooltips on due dates reduce timezone confusion for globally distributed cohorts.

Eight of eleven products this month touched community visibility in some way — Health Score v2 across every data surface, public profiles and calendars open without a login, committee directories browsable by anyone. August didn't just add features; it made the platform more honest about what open source projects actually look like.
